In a nutshell this is a bullish candlestick chart pattern. This is an interesting one. This is basically a hammer that is inverted. This isn't as powerful as a hammer that pushes thru (well that's my opinion) But this could be a precursor for an interesting reversal. Say we have a scenario where we are at the lows of the market, we get a push up that fails and it pushes back down. So why is this bullish? Its bullish because it can give you a little potential insight that there is some demand out there. As such for me this is an initial filter - i.e. stacking the reasons to go long or closing a short. It is better to wait for Day 2 after you see the Inverted Hammer because Day 1 isn't enough.
